Fuerteventura – the golden canarian isle

In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean is where the Canary Isles find their place. Fuerteventura is one of 7 marvelous islands in between the 3 continents America, Europe and Africa.

Fuerteventura is famous for its wonderful beaches and bizarre landscapes. Here you can find endless beaches with golden sand and an unforgettable view over the ocean. But Fuerteventura has got many more highlights to offer than beaches and watersports. Other kinds of activities you can enjoy here are hiking, biking, diving, horse riding or golf.

In your holiday on Fuerteventura you can hire a rental car and explore the isle by your own. There are many places of interest to visit such as the dunes of Corralejo in the north of the isle. The dunes are part of a protected landscape and from here you can visit as well an isle called “la isla de lobos”. You can get there every day by ferry and visit the lonely island, where, how the story tells, once have been living sea lions.

Other places of interest to visit on Fuerteventura are the museums village Ecomuseo La Alcogida, situated near Tefia. Here you can find typical houses and cottages in the traditional style of the isle. You can watch how different kinds of artisan work and learn about the culture and origin of the isle of Fuerteventura.

A very mystic place to visit is the holy mountain called Monte Tindaya, where the ancient people used to celebrate different kinds of spiritual events. The highlight on Monte Tindaya are the pedomorphs, which are a sign of the art of the aborigines Benahoritas.

In different villages like Antigua you still can visit real mills, where once the habitants where grinding their corn. The Molino de Antigua is not the only historic building to visit here.

For young people and those who want to have a lot of action and diversion on Fuerteventura places as Puerto del Rosario are adequate. Here you find lots of Restaurants, bars, discotheques and more. Nightlife is very varied, you can find locations with live bands, electronic music, cocktail bars and more. During the day in Puerto del Rosario you have lots of possibilities to do shopping.

    what a beautiful island is Fuerteventura! Everytime I go there, I enjoy every little detail in the landscapes of vulcanos and deserts.
