Isle of Fuerteventura

El Cotillo – wonderful coast village

In the North of the Canary Isle Fuerteventura, on the Westside, is situated a small village called El Cotillo.

The small village directly at the coast side is famous for surfers and watersport and generally for all people, who want to know a traditional village on the isle.

In the center of El Cotillo you find a small harbor, where the fishermen arrive with fresh fish and seafood. The other harbor, where the boats are, is quiet new. The old harbor is situated near the new harbor, separated only by a small path.

Near the old harbor you can find lots of bars and restaurants, where you can taste typical canarian food and wine and have a rest with a nice view over the sea.

Next to the harbor you find the tower “El Toston”, from where you have extraordinary nice views over the surroundings and the sea.

From El Cotillo down south you find various kilometers of beaches, where you can enjoy your leisure time and have some sunbathing. On most of the beaches you can practice different kinds of watersports. The beaches of El Cotillo are wonderful for who likes to spend a nice day on the beach without hundreds of people in a quiet surrounding.

The tower “El Toston” is famous for taking photos of the new harbor and the beaches and their surroundings. In the tower you can find a kind of information center, where you can get informed about sports, leisure time activities, hiking paths, sports, monuments, excursions and more. The tower was built as a defense against pirates and attacks from the seaside.

A few kilometers on the north side of El Cotillo there is a lighthouse where you can enjoy some walks around.

You can reach El Cotillo easily with public transport for example from Corralejo or Puerto del Rosario. If you have a rental car you can drive along the coast side to reach El Cotillo and enjoy of wonderful views.
